Controlling Addison’s Symptoms Naturally

Addison’s disease is a disorder of the endocrine system. Also known as hypocorticism, Addison’s is a chronic condition in which the adrenal glands fail to produce the necessary levels of cortisol and aldosterone, two hormones which are vital to the total health of the body. These hormones are instrumental in the proper regulation of blood pressure and insulin production, and help to control the body’s metabolism. Cortisol and aldosterone are also crucial to maintaining the healthy functioning of the heart and the kidneys. While Addison’s is relatively rare, it can present at any age, and affects men and women in equal proportion.

Symptoms of Addison’s Disease

Addison’s disease can be difficult to diagnose, as symptoms tend to present only when the patient is under extreme physical or emotional stress. The most common symptoms of Addison include:

  • chronic fatigue
  • muscle weakness
  • dizziness
  • nausea
  • diarrhea
  • loss of appetite
  • weight loss
  • dehydration
  • dark skin blemishes

Left untreated, Addison’s can lead to sudden drops in blood pressure, kidney failure and shock. Conventional treatments for Addison’s consist of a steady regimen of drug therapies and synthetic hormone supplements. While these treatments can compensate for the output of the compromised adrenal glands, they leave patients dependent upon chemical therapies that are toxic to the body. Increasingly, Addison’s patients are turning to natural therapies to control their symptoms. These natural treatments help patients to manage their Addison’s symptoms without bombarding their bodies with often toxic drugs and chemicals.

Herbal Treatments for Addison’s

Herbal remedies can offer relief from the symptoms of Addison’s, and can help the body prepare for, and guard against, further symptomatic flare-ups. Naturopathic healers use herbal supplements that possess adaptogenic properties to treat patient’s with Addison’s disease. Adapotgens, found in many natural foods and herbs, improve the body’s overall ability to cope with physiological stress. Stress is a key component in the occurrence of Addison’s symptoms. Through the use of these adaptogenic herbs, clinicians can help their patients improve their ability to handle physical stress, thereby reducing the occurrence, and severity, of Addison’s symptoms. The most common herbs used to help with Addison’s include green tea extract, milk thistle, echinacea, Siberian ginseng and astragalus.

One of the most positive herbal additions for Addison’s involves the use of ashwagandha as a regular nutritional supplement. The extract from the roots of the ashwagandha plant helps to stimulate the nervous system, strengthening the body’s natural ability to cope with physiological stress. Ashwagandha also helps to address the low levels of cortisol production on Addison’s patients, and offers a natural way to increase cortisol levels without resorting to synthetic hormones or drug dependent therapies.

Exercise and Addison’s

Exercise can be difficult for some Addison’s patients. The chronic fatigue and muscle weakness associated with the disorder can make regular exercise seem impossible. But regular exercise can not only increase the body’s core strength, it trains the body to better handle those physiological stresses that can set of Addison’s symptoms. Cardiovascular exercises, such as rebounding, jogging, swimming and aerobic exercise offer the best support for Addison’s sufferers. These exercises are low impact, easy to perform, and can be eased into and developed as the patient builds up their strength and stamina.

Stress Management

As physiological stress is such a major component in the occurrence of Addison’s symptoms, it is important for patients to learn to manage both their physical and emotional stress levels.  Emotional stress and anxiety is a key trigger for physiological stresses that adversely affect the body. Nearly everyone can point to a case of the flu or common cold that was preceded by a period of anxiety or depression. If these emotions can lower our body’s ability to naturally stave off common maladies, they can definitely hinder the body’s ability to cope with more complex health issues.

Addison’s patients who have learned to manage their stress levels through controlled breathing techniques, and through the meditation on the word of God, have found that their symptoms become less severe. Indeed, through regular prayer and meditation on the word, Addison’s sufferers can relieve both the mental and physiological stresses which inhibit the body’s natural healing energy. Prayer, devotion, and meditation God’s word frees the natural energy of the body to cope with the physiological stresses that can trigger the symptoms of Addison’s disease.

A diagnosis of Addison’s disease can be life altering, and left untreated can lead to serious health conditions. But, with the help of natural approaches to restore one’s health, and a devotion to the word of God, patients can learn to manage their symptoms and experience the healing energy within themselves.

As Blood Sugar Increases So Does Cancer Risk

A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that higher fasting blood glucose levels were associated with an increase in cancer incidence and cancer deaths.

“In the long run, the implication is that as the world becomes heavier and blood sugar rises, that could contribute to an increasing burden of cancer,” said study co-author Dr. Jonathan Samet, chairman of epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Fasting blood glucose levels are used to measure the amount of sugar in your blood after you haven’t had anything to eat or drink for at least eight hours. A reading under 110 mg/dl is considered normal, 110-125 mg/dl is impaired, and a fasting blood glucose level over 126 mg/dl indicates diabetes.

The current study looked at 10 years of data from nearly 1.3 million Korean men and women. People in Korea tend to be thinner and have a lower incidence of diabetes than people in the United States.

There were 829,770 men and 468,615 women included in the research. All were between the ages of 30 and 95. During a biennial physical, each person was surveyed about their lifestyle habits, such as smoking and alcohol consumption. They also had their blood sugar levels measured.

During the study period, almost 26,000 people died from cancer. Death rates were highest for those with higher levels of fasting glucose. Overall, those with fasting glucose levels above 140 mg/dl had a 29 percent higher risk of dying from cancer. For pancreatic cancer, the risk of dying was doubled for those with the highest fasting glucose levels. Only 848 of the cancer deaths occurred in people with fasting glucose levels of less than 90 mg/dl.

More than 56,000 people were diagnosed with cancer during the study. Cancer incidence rates also went up as glucose levels rose. Overall, the risk of developing cancer was 13 percent higher for someone with a fasting glucose level between 110 mg/dl and 125 mg/dl, compared to those who had readings under 90 mg/dl. For someone with fasting glucose above 140 mg/dl, the risk rose to 29 percent higher than someone under 90 mg/dl.

Once blood sugar levels rose over 110 mg/dl, cancer incidence rose for leukemia and cancers of the esophagus, larynx, stomach, colon, rectum, liver, bile duct, pancreas, lung, prostate, kidney, bladder and brain, the study found.
Journal of the American Medical Association

Dr. Keith and Laurie Nemec comments on Blood Sugars and Cancer Rates:
Sugar in all forms causes a weakened immune system which causes cancer. Sugar in all forms causes inflammation which causes cancer. What is the greatest source of sugar in the American diet? Well the average American eats: 150 lbs. of refined sugar a year, and over 150 lbs. of bakery goods, pastas, starches per year.

The greatest source of sugar is cooked and refined food. Bread/pasta and cooked potatoes all cause blood sugar to rise, maybe not as high as refined sugars do but still high enough to cause the immune system to go out of balance and lead to disease.

The answer is simple—learn how to eat a living/raw plant diet of sprouts, seeds, nuts, legumes, vegetables, sea vegetables and avocados.

These foods do not cause sugar levels to go way up and do not cause inflammation and disease.

Cancer Now the Leading Killer of Americans

Cancer Now the Leading Killer of Americans

Cancer has surpassed heart disease as the leading killer of Americans under the age of 85, according to the American Cancer Society.

In addition, the report projects that there will be 1,372,910 new cases of cancer in the United States this year, and 570,280 deaths.

Rates of cancers linked to too much weight are increasing, reflecting the obesity epidemic spreading throughout America.

About one-third of new cases this year will be due to tobacco use and one-third to poor nutrition, physical inactivity or overweight and obesity.

Lung cancer remains the leading killer, accounting for 31 percent of cancer deaths in men and 27 percent of cancer deaths in women. In men, the top killers are lung, prostate, then colorectal cancer, in that order. For women, breast cancer ranks second for mortality, followed by colorectal.

For women, the most commonly diagnosed is breast cancer, followed by lung and bronchus cancers and then colorectal cancer. For men, the most commonly diagnosed cancers are lung, prostate and colorectal, in that order.
Rates of prostate, breast and thyroid cancer and melanoma are on the rise. Increases in thyroid cancer may be due to improvement in diagnoses or an increase in exposure to medical radiation, such as X-rays
Obese men run a 50 percent greater risk of developing cancer overall, particularly of the liver, pancreas, stomach and esophagus. Obese women face a 70 percent greater risk, particularly cancer of the uterus, kidney, cervix and pancreas.

Dr. Keith & Laurie Comments on Cancer Now the Leading Killer of Americans:

This was inevitable because of what we are doing to our environment and our food. The air we breathe is toxic. The water we drink is toxic. The food we eat is toxic if it is animal products which has concentrated the toxins of the environment in their tissues and fat cells. When you eat animal products, you are eating 16 – 1,000x more toxins than eating plant products and organic plant products.

What causes cancer?

Many things but at the top of the list are

  • Toxic air
  • Toxic water
  • Toxic animal products
  • Cooked food
  • Electromagnetic fields radiation and x-ray radiation
  • Sugar in all forms
  • Toxic stored emotions

How can you prevent cancer? Become whole in Spirit, Mind and Body.

The body becomes whole when you live the 7 basic steps to Total Health everyday.

The mind becomes whole when you still the conscious thinking/racing mind, put to death the old lie-filled mind, and when you reprogram the conscious mind with nothing but Truth.

It is critical to overcome the nine strongholds of the old mind to become whole in mind. They are:

  • World
  • False beliefs
  • Religion
  • Flesh
  • Personality
  • Ego
  • 5 senses
  • Time
  • Physicality

The Spirit becomes whole when you enter the covenant relationship with the Living God and when you follow what He puts in your heart every moment. Never quitting, stopping or giving up on what He placed in your heart no matter what the cost, even if it be your very life.

All Natural Remedies for Crohn’s Disease

Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disorder that causes an inflammation of the digestive tract. Crohn’s typically manifests as a swelling in the lower intestine, though it can also affect other parts of the digestive tract including the esophagus, stomach and colon. The cause of Crohn’s disease remains unclear, but recent research suggests that it may be linked to immune system dysfunction. There also appears to be a hereditary component, with more than 20% of those suffering from Crohn’s disease having one or more blood relatives with the condition. The most common symptoms of Crohn’s are abdominal pain, diarrhea, blood in the stool, reduced appetite and weight loss. Crohn’s disease can also lead to chronic fatigue, ulcers and anemia.

Conventional treatments for Crohn’s disease rely on anti-inflammatory medications, steroids and immune system suppressing drugs to control symptoms. In extreme cases surgery may be used to remove sections of the affected intestine. These treatments are invasive, and potentially harmful to the total health of the patient. Many people with Crohn’s disease are finding that natural therapies offer a greater relief from their symptoms, while avoiding unwanted side effects and life altering surgeries.

Probiotics and Crohn’s Disease

Recent research has shown the probiotics can be a powerful tool in the battle against Crohn’s disease. Probiotics are “friendly bacteria” that are similar to the beneficial bacteria in the healthy human intestinal tract. The ingestion of probiotics helps to restore the healthy balance of bacteria in the intestine and the gut, resulting in fewer flare-ups for Crohn’s sufferers. Recent studies have also shown that probiotics not only increase healthy bacteria, they reduce inflammation and help the intestinal tract begin to heal itself from the long term effects of Crohn’s disease.

Diet and Crohn’s Disease

Crohn’s symptoms can be triggered by a number of different factors, not least of which is diet. Patients suffering with Crohn’s are often advised to keep a food journal, making note of what they eat and when they experience symptoms of the disorder. In this way patients can pinpoint what foods and eating habits correlate with the recurring flare-up of Crohn’s symptoms, and begin to eliminate those food choices from their diet. Trigger foods will likely differ amongst patients, which is why clinicians suggest a personal food journal be used to determine what foods adversely affect which patients. Be aware of big food offenders like dairy products, eggs, gluten which excludes most grains.

While there is not a specific diet determined to be beneficial to individuals with Crohn’s disease, there are some nutritional choices that make sense for people suffering with this chronic condition. Crohn’s is thought to be linked to a dysfunction within the body’s immune system, so a diet designed to boost the total health of the immune system is recommended. Emphasis should be placed on organically grown fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts. Meat and meat byproducts should be avoided, as should alcohol, refined sugars and other overly processed foods. Flax and hemps seeds should be added to the diet, as these are rich in the Omega-3 fatty acids which are so vital to a healthy immune system.

Stress and Crohn’s Disease

Patients suffering with Crohn’s disease understand the pain and anxiety that accompany the condition. Unfortunately, stress and anxiety are major triggers for the chronic symptoms associated with the disease and patients need to learn to manage their stress levels to avoid flare-ups. Exercise is always a recommended method for stress reduction. In addition to the obvious health benefits, regular exercise improves overall mental health, reduces anxiety and instills a feeling of control in the patient. Even a regular of routine of light exercise like rebounding for the lymphatic system, along with daily walks, can do wonders.

Relaxation techniques, such as breathing exercises and meditation on the Word of God, should be done daily to help manage the chronic pain associated with Crohn’s disease, as well as to reduce daily stress levels. A holistic clinician can be consulted for breathing exercises that can be used to control and eliminate stress and anxiety. Regular meditation on the scriptures, and participation in a prayer group, can also help Crohn’s patients reduce their stress and achieve an overall sense of wellbeing.

Natural therapies for patients with Crohn’s disease offer an alternative to the potentially toxic and sometimes invasive treatments of conventional medicine. With a combination of diet, nutrition, exercise and meditation Crohn’s patients can minimize their symptoms, and begin to return their body to total health.

Lowering Your Risk For Cancer Naturally

That age old adage, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”, was never more apt than when applied to cancer. A diagnosis of cancer can have devastating effects on a patient and their loved ones. Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well. Conventional treatments are often invasive, expensive and in themselves toxic to the human body. With the constant rise in environmental toxins, chemically modified foods and unhealthy lifestyles cancer prevention has never been more important. But how can otherwise healthy individuals guard against this life threatening disease?

Fortunately, there are all natural steps that can be taken to prevent the occurrence of cancer. These techniques are easy to implement, wholly natural, and offer a wide range of health benefits beyond simply the prevention of disease.

Lifestyle and Cancer Prevention

The lifestyle choices we make play a large part in our overall health, including our ability to ward of the development of cancer. Our home and work environment, diet and day to day stress levels all affect our total health. Through specific lifestyle modifications like stress reduction, sleep, diet and exercise, we can greatly reduce the risk for cancer in otherwise healthy body.

Cancer Prevention by Removing Environmental Toxins

It may not be possible to totally eliminate our exposure to all environmental toxins. Unfortunately we live in an age where pollution, chemicals and radioactive toxins permeate nearly every aspect of our day to day lives. But there are certain steps that can be taken to minimize regular exposure. Household cleaning agents, paints and soaps should all be verified as organic and produced from all natural ingredients. Smoking, and the abuse of alcohol, should be totally eliminated from our day to day routines. These are relatively obvious changes that can be made to make our personal environments more health supportive.

Regular detoxification of the body is also a prime ingredient in the prevention of cancer. While we cannot totally eliminate all of the toxins we come into contact with, we can make a concerted effort to cleanse them from the body on a regular basis. Detoxification helps to reduce the level of toxins that accumulate in our tissues and organs, allowing the body to heal itself and maintain a healthy immune system. By strengthening the immune system with regular detox procedures, we restore the body’s natural ability to ward of all diseases, including cancer.

Nutrition and Cancer Prevention

Good nutrition is the best defense against all disease. Recent studies have shown that transitioning to a wholly vegan diet can have a dramatic effect on our overall health. This means the elimination of all animal byproducts from the diet. Not only meat, but milk, cheese, eggs and foods that rely on animal byproducts for stabilizers and flavor enhancers. A healthy vegan diet should include organic fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds and legumes. A doctor that is learned in nutrition should be consulted to help devise a balanced diet that provides the appropriate levels of nutrients needed to maintain total health.

As we transition to a vegan diet, the emphasis should be on wholly organic foods. Organic foods, free of chemicals, pesticides and genetic manipulation, offer many cancer fighting properties. A diet rich in organic fruits, vegetables seeds, nuts and avocados helps to optimize the functioning of the immune system, and increases the body’s ability to prevent any unregulated growth of potentially cancerous cells. It also supports the body’s ability to maintain, and repair, itself at the cellular level.

Emotional and Spiritual Well Being

Day to day stresses take their toll on the human body physically, emotionally and spiritually. The buildup of stress robs the body of much of its God given healing power, and the management of stress, anxiety and depression should be paramount in any cancer prevention routine.

Regular meditation on the Word of God gives us release from the day to day strife that can so adversely affect our minds and bodies. By giving our hearts and minds over to His plan and purpose for our lives, we find the inner peace and tranquility that allows our body’s to heal and thrive according to His will. Through spiritual health, we can promote our own mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.

At the heart of all disease prevention lies an innate respect for our own bodies (which are the temple of His Spirit), minds and spirits. By giving the body the nutrition it needs to thrive, we give it the power to heal and avert cancer and other diseases. When we feed our spiritual needs as well as we feed our bodies, we embrace the potential for total health.

Dreams act as a therapy

Your dreams may offer you solutions for solving personal problems, according to a Canadian study.
University of Alberta and University of Montreal researchers studied 470 students and found that memorable emotional events can influence dreams for up to six or seven days.
The study found that compared to dreams on the night immediately after the event, the dreams on subsequent nights were more likely to reflect interpersonal interactions, problem-solving, and positive emotions. The researchers believe that these “delayed incorporations” may help people work through personal problems.
This suggests an ongoing effort to resolve problems in dreams during the week following the emergence of that problem. The dreams themselves are a kind of treatment,” said Dr. Don Kuiken, a psychology professor at the University of Alberta.

Dr. Keith & Laurie Nemec comments on Do Dreams Help Us Heal?:

What are dreams?

Dreams are:
  •           The daily detoxing of the conscious mind.
  •           The natural purging of the subconscious mind
  •           A mode in which God can give divine revelation.
Most of the dreams we experience have no meaning and are not meant to be analyzed only released. This is the purging, detoxing of the thoughts of conscious and subconscious mind.
The dreams that do have meaning is when God gives you a image, symbol or word that you know that you know came from Him.
Joseph received revelation from God as God spoke to him through dreams.
Einstein said he received his theory of relativity while dreaming of riding a light beam in space.
What this study shows up about dreams is that it is the way the conscious and subconscious mind “works things out” to keep you in a state of balance or wholeness.
One additional point to know: you only hit the deep dream state when you get to bed early and wake up early with as close to 9.5 hours of deep/dark uninterrupted sleep, with at least 3-5 hours before midnight. This is a powerful balance of body, mind and emotion, so get to bed early and have several detoxing dreams or better yet, received direct inspiration and revelation from God.

Rocket Fuel Chemical Found in Mothers’ Milk

A toxic chemical used in rocket fuel was found in virtually every sample taken in a new study of nursing mothers’ milk.

The multistate study by Texas Tech University researchers, published, found that perchlorate levels in breast milk samples were on average five times higher than those detected in dairy milk pulled from grocery stores.

Perchlorate has been linked to thyroid ailments, and is considered particularly dangerous to children.

NBC News

Dr. Keith & Laurie Nemec comments on Rocket Fuel Chemical Found in Mothers’ Milk:

What all these studies show is simply this. We have and continue to poison and toxify our world. The results are that we are poisoning and toxifying ourselves. Scientific research has stated that up to 75% of cancer is caused by toxins and chemical exposure. This is affecting adults, children and even unborn children in utero.

A recent study showed that 33 chemicals that promote breast cancer formation have been isolated in common house dust.

Also, its important to understand that as you eat up the food chain (animal products including meat, chicken, fish, eggs, dairy products, cheese, yogurt and butter, you concentrate the chemicals and toxins you are taking into your body 16 times greater than eating non-organic plant products. And up to 1000 times greater than organic plant products.

So what can you do to minimize chemicals and toxins being absorbed into the body?

1. Practice deep diaphragm breathing. You detoxify your body 70% through breathing, 20% through your skin, 7% through your urine and 3% through your bowel.

2. Drink distilled water that has been filtered after distillation. This is the cleanest and purest water on the planet.

3. Eat a living/raw uncooked organic plant diet. This keeps your toxic exposure to a minimum.

4. Do a bowel detoxification program and follow up with an ongoing daily bowel detoxification.

5. Do a liver detoxification program and follow up with ongoing daily liver detoxification. Your liver is the most toxic and overworked organ in your body. When it is overburdened, the complete body becomes generally toxic, decreasing the immune system function, opening the door to infection, cancer and autoimmune disease. When the liver cannot keep up with incoming chemicals and toxins, they spill over and cause inflammation and cell death of any and all organs, glands, tissues or body parts. This opens the door to nearly all disease. This is the critical function the liver plays.

The liver is the most important detoxifying organ and immune maintenance organ.

6. Take liver maintenance daily, 3-6 caps two times per day.

7. Take liver detox tea 2-4 cups per day.

8. Do a kidney detoxification program.

9. Do a blood detoxification program with Blood Detox Formula and follow up with TRMA (Blood Purifying Enzyme) and VSCLR (Blood Purifying Enzyme) enzymes, 4 caps 3 times per day for three months.

10. Do cellular/lymphatic exercise daily. This is done on a rebounder along with deep diaphragm breathing.

Managing Your Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms Naturally

Multiple Sclerosis is an often frustrating, painful and debilitating disease. Patients struggling with the symptoms of MS face many challenges, not the least of which is the mystery of when, and how severe, the next attack will be. Conventional medicine seeks to manage MS symptoms with a regimen of often strong prescription drugs. These drug regimens are often accompanied by unwanted side effects that leave MS patients with a further set of health problems to overcome. But there are natural treatments MS patients can employ to help manage their recurring symptoms, and bring themselves some much sought after relief.

Causes and Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis is a progressive disease of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. MS causes a scarring of the myelin sheaths that encase the body’s nerves. This scarring leads to a disruption in signals from the brain to the rest of the body. The effects of MS can range from mild to increasingly debilitating. Multiple sclerosis is a mysterious disease, and symptoms can occur seemingly without reason.

While scientists have yet to determine the primary cause of MS, certain factors do appear to be linked to occurrences of the disease. Viral infections, exposure to environmental toxins, mental stress and immune system imbalances all appear to play a part in the development of multiple sclerosis in otherwise healthy individuals. Common symptoms of MS include fatigue, loss of muscle strength, loss of visual acuity, and recurring pain, tingling or burning in the extremities. In some cases MS can cause memory lapses, depression and bladder and bowel dysfunction.

Diet and Multiple Sclerosis

Recent research has shown a link between diet and the recurrence of symptoms in MS sufferers. Patients who kept a food journal were able to find a correlation between their dietary habits and their recurring MS symptoms. In some cases the symptoms were being triggered by previously undiagnosed food allergies, while in most it would appear that poor nutrition choices were a major cause of recurring flare-ups.

The whole body approach to managing the symptoms of MS begins with good nutrition. Those individuals suffering with multiple sclerosis should begin transitioning to a diet that relies less on animal proteins, and more on organic fruits and vegetables. MS sufferers should eliminate their intake of red meats, highly processed grains and sugars, butter, milk, eggs and cheese. Foods high in essential Omega-3 fatty acids, such as walnuts, hemp and flax seed, should be added to the diet. Omega-3 fatty acids are vital to maintaining a strong immune system, and also help to protect and strengthen the heart and cardiovascular system.

Certain vitamin supplements can be added to the diet to help support the body’s nerve function. Vitamin B-12, vitamin D and selenium all have a positive effect on the body’s nervous system, and individuals with MS often have a deficiency in these vital nutritional building blocks. Optimally, these nutrients should be acquired through diet. Multiple sclerosis patients should work with their doctor to determine what supplements may be needed to offset any vitamin deficiencies in their normal diet.

Exercise and Multiple Sclerosis

Regular exercise is especially important to individuals suffering with multiple sclerosis. MS tends to weaken the muscles of the body, and regular exercise will help patients maintain their core strength. A routine of sensible exercise also helps patients control their weight, boost their natural energy and relieve stress. Individuals with severe MS symptoms may find it difficult to exercise regularly, but even a light stretching routine, or a daily walk, can have a positive effect. As the patient’s strength and energy increases, further exercises can be added to their daily health regimen.

The Mental and Spiritual Connection

Multiple sclerosis sufferers often find themselves prone to mood swings, anxiety and depression. These can be the most difficult aspects of the disease to manage successfully. But mental and spiritual wellbeing promotes physical health. Through meditation on God’s Word and learning to listen to the voice of His Spirit, MS patients can find the direction that He is leading them to address this health challenge. Through this stillness, mental and spiritual balance can be achieved, and the Word of God will resound clearly in the soul. By tending to the spirit, MS sufferers will be able to cast off their anxieties and depression, and learn to live fully in the moment. Ultimately, the strength of the spirit and the mind will reinforce the healing of the body, and bring healing relief from the recurring symptoms of multiple sclerosis.

Natural Treatments for Type-2 Diabetes

Diabetes affects more than 20 million Americans, with more than 90% of that figure having type-2, or non-insulin dependent, diabetes.  Diabetes is, at its most basic, a sugar imbalance in the blood stream. Natural sugars, in the form of glucose, provide energy to the body’s cells. Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, controls blood-glucose levels, and regulates the absorption of glucose into the body’s cells. In patients with type-2 diabetes, either the pancreas is failing to produce the necessary levels of insulin, or their body’s cells have become resistant to the absorption of insulin itself. This results in a buildup of glucose in the bloodstream, which can lead to blindness, heart disease and kidney disease.

Risk Factors and Symptoms of Type-2 Diabetes

It is estimated that as many as 70 million Americans are at risk of developing type-2 diabetes. Common risk factors are a combination of heredity and lifestyle choices. People with a family history of diabetes appear to be at higher risk that others, while people of certain ethnic backgrounds, such as African-Americans, Asians and Hispanic-Americans, also seem to be more prone to developing the disease. Lifestyle and general health also play a large part in the development of type-2 diabetes. People who are overweight, and who suffer from high blood pressure and high cholesterol, tend to be at a greater risk. The chances of developing type-2 diabetes also increases with age, and people over 45 should make it a point to have regular blood screenings.

The most common symptoms of type-2 diabetes are increased thirst and hunger, unexplained weight loss, dry mouth, frequent urination and fatigue. Diabetes can also present itself in instances of blurred vision, and chronic headaches. Diabetes is a serious, and often life threatening condition. People experiencing these symptoms are encouraged to see a doctor or clinician for testing.

Managing Your Diabetes Through Diet

A healthy diet is important for everyone, but especially for those with type-2 diabetes. People at risk for diabetes can also avoid the disease by adopting sound nutritional habits. It is always better to control the body’s blood-glucose levels naturally, through nutrition, rather than with drugs. Eating the proper amount, and type, of carbohydrates is at the root of any diabetic’s diet. Complex carbohydrates, found in vegetables, nuts and seeds, are the best choice for a diabetic diet. Complex carbohydrates are chemically bonded simple sugars, and are absorbed and processed by the body more slowly than simple carbohydrates. This allows for a slow and steady release of energy to the cells within the body.

Fiber is also important in a well-rounded diabetic diet. Fiber helps to delay sugar absorption, making it easier for the body to control its blood-glucose levels. Fiber also promotes weight loss, is a good source of vitamins and nutrients, and helps to reduce the levels of bad LDL cholesterol. Foods rich in fiber include fresh fruits and vegetables.

Limiting fats in a diabetic diet is also vital. Fats, particularly saturated fats, increase the potential for heart disease. Patients with type-2 diabetes are already at risk for heart disease, and it is vital to keep that risk as low as possible. Consuming a no animal fat diet is the most beneficial for improving a person’s health. Plant source fats are the most health promoting.

Minerals and Supplements for Type-2 Diabetes

In addition to dietary changes, patients with type-2 diabetes should consider adding specific minerals and herbal supplements to their daily routines. Chromium plays a vital role in the production and storage of insulin within the body, and people with type-2 diabetes tend to suffer from low levels of this necessary mineral. Magnesium helps the body regulate blood sugar levels, and also promotes healthy heart and nerve function. Both chromium and magnesium can be taken as nutritional supplements, but patients should work with their holistic clinician to formulate an acceptable dosage. Herbal supplements, such as cinnamon, fenugreek and gymnema, have also been shown to improve blood-glucose control in patients with type-2 diabetes.

Patients with type-2 diabetes face many challenges to their health. With the help of holistic clinicians, patients with type-2 diabetes can learn to manage the condition naturally, minimizing the need for long term drug therapies. Patients with type-2 diabetes should keep in close contact with their clinicians and should regularly monitor their blood sugar levels. Diabetes can have devastating effects on the body, but with sensible, and all natural, therapies, patients can maintain a long and healthy life.

Be Prepared

This life we live is a journey—the journey of life. One of the most important aspects of this journey of life is to BE PREPARED. What does this mean? It means do everything that has been shown to you (revealed to your heart) to be ready for what could happen along the path.

This journey sometimes is an upward climb, even a mountain climb, as we overcome the obstacles put into our paths. Each journey in life is unique to that person. No two people have the same journey. If two people have the same diagnosis of cancer does this mean that they have the same path, the same journey? Absolutely not! They might have the same effect (the cancer) but entirely different causes. One might be a product of stored emotional toxins of fear, while another might be because of physical toxin exposure of repeated smoking. No two journeys are alike but in each there are obstacles to overcome in order to live a victorious life—a life to the full. So, how can you possibly prepare for the unknown journey of life?

This preparation is three fold.

  • Prepare your body
  • Prepare you mind
  • Prepare your heart

To prepare your body is to learn how to maintain it. This is similar to having a new car and reading in the owner’s manual the maintenance schedule. If you maintain the vehicle properly, you will have years of trouble free performance. What is your physical maintenance schedule?

The Seven Basic Steps to Total Health

  1. Air
  2. Water
  3. Food
  4. Sleep/Light
  5. Exercise
  6. Fasting
  7. Prayer

1. Air-you must deep diaphragm breathing to oxygenate your body.
2. Water-you must drink 32 ounces of purified water per 50/lbs per body weight per day.
3. Food-you consume a diet of living/raw plant food which has the highest energy, bioelectricity, enzymes and bioavailable nutrient content to either maintain or restore your health.
4. Sleep-you must sleep 8-9.5 hours with 3.5 of them before midnight.
5. Exercise-you must exercise 30 minutes every day.
6. Fasting-you must fast from the normal Standard American Diet (SAD).
7. Prayer-you must take the time throughout your day to regularly still your mind so you can hear the voice of God spoken into your heart.

How do you prepare your mind for the journey of life? Is it by trying to learn about everything, about studying, acquiring knowledge about the millions of facets of life? Well, it could be but if that were the answer then the most successful sojourners in life would be the smartest, and this is definitely not the case. So, how do you prepare your mind? There are 3 ways that are critical to the journey of life.

Prepare your mind by:

  • Programming it with Truth
  • Letting go of the lies
  • Get to know the One who has the answers to every question

To reprogram your mind with Truth is simply to see everything in your life as God sees it. Know that God is in everything, and everything is designed to strengthen you in your journey so that you become complete, mature, not lacking anything, also know that God is faithful; He will not let you be tested beyond what you can bear. But when you are tested, He will also provide a way out (up) so that you can stand up under it. The way out is the way up to the top of the mountain. When you reach the top of the mountain of your health or life challenge that is where you find victory and freedom.

To let go of lies is simply to let go of the old stored programs. You know what they are. The lies that say:

“you’re not good enough,”

“not smart enough,”

“not beautiful enough,”

“not talented enough,” and

“not loveable enough.”

The lie always judges and condemns you. You do have a freewill choice in everything that comes into your life. The choice is to either hold onto or to let go of lies. You can and will make the right choice when you let go of the old lie-filled mind which condemns you and tells you all that you are not, (and also that causes you to condemn and judge others); and grab onto the new Truth-filled mind filled with the thoughts that lift you up and tell you all that you ARE!

In this life journey, the most important person to know is the One who knows all things, the One who has all the answers to all the questions. The more time you spend with your travel guide (the Spirit of God), the more you come to know Him and His language which is a soft, quiet voice spoken like the drops on a still pond. Once you know your travel guide well, once you can listen to and understand His language, your journey becomes a truly beautiful experience. At every turn with every obstacle, He directs you, guides you, leads you and empowers you. This is true life—and without this, there is no life.

The last area to prepare for the journey is your heart. This is the most powerful and crucial preparation of all. To prepare your heart is to remove all the blockages of the heart which are the stronghold of the old mind. The old thoughts are the lies of our past that keep us in bondage at the present and prevent us from preparing and listening to our hearts. Always remember the mind is like a raging ocean of thoughts whereas the heart is like a quiet pond. To hear the voice of your travel guide (the Spirit of God) you must still the raging ocean of thoughts. Be still and know that I AM God.

Two of the most powerful steps in preparing your heart is to stop condemning and judging both yourself and others. The pure heart has been coated with layers of thoughts and attitudes of the lying old mind. One of the first steps in removing these layers is to stop pointing your finger at yourself and at others. Once you can break free from this and you begin to accept yourself and others for who you/they are, you have taken a quantum leap into preparing your heart.

When it comes to preparing your heart all you have to do is defeat the strongholds of the mind, which are:

  • World
  • Religion
  • False Beliefs
  • Personality
  • Ego
  • Flesh
  • 5 Senses
  • Time
  • Physicality

Once you have put to death the old mind in these nine areas, your heart is prepared to receive the Truth each and every moment. Remember, you prepare each moment by:

  • Stilling the conscious thinking, racing mind.
  • Reprogramming/renewing the conscious thinking mind with nothing but Truth.
  • Killing or putting to death the old lie-filled mind.
  • Operating in the mind of God.

When you follow your heart and listen to God’s voice spoken into your prepared heart, you “know all things.” God will tell you everything you need to know about the journey if you just prepare your body, mind and heart. If you only think on what God has placed in your heart, not what the world system has put in your mind, you are prepared for the awesome journey called life.

Be prepared for each moment by taking care of your:

BODY with the 7 Basic Steps to Total Health

MIND by stilling, reprogramming and putting to death the old and by listening to our heart and “knowing all things.”

HEART by progressively having the victory over (putting to death) the blockages of the heart which are like strongholds of the old mind, and, always by spending all your time with your travel guide (the Spirit of God) so you will know all things and this knowing all things is knowing the Truth that will set you free each and every moment of the journey.

Practical Steps to Take

How to prepare my body with the 7 Basic Steps to Total Health?

Get up early and go to bed early. Sleep research has shown that a person that goes to bed before 9 p.m. and wakes up no later than 6 a.m. has the strongest immune system, the most balanced hormonal system, energy, strength and vitality.

The other reason you should go to bed early is because night time is flesh time. When do you usually eat wrong foods, watch TV, and feed the flesh? It is after 8 p.m. You do not usually think about eating and watching TV at 6 a.m. in the morning.

The morning is a powerful time to commune with God, to still your conscious, thinking mind, to reprogram your conscious mind, to take care of your body with proper living/raw plant food and exercise.

So get to bed early, wake up early and be prepared in body, mind and heart/spirit for your day. When you do, you will never have another bad day in your life. Why, because you are so built up, filled up that you can just ride the wave of that energy throughout the whole day. It is an awesome thing to always have a great day. So be prepared, be ready and have an awesome journey of life.

Meditation Boosts the Immune System

Meditation can strengthen your immune system.

University of Wisconsin researchers found that people who did eight weeks of meditation training produced more antibodies to a flu vaccine. They also showed signs of increased activity in brain areas related to positive emotion than people who didn’t meditate.

The study, is the first to link meditation to changes in brain activity associated with positive feelings. It’s also the first to demonstrate that meditation can affect immune function.

The study included 48 people. Half of them received weekly meditation training and were encouraged to meditate at home for an hour a day, six days a week, with the help of instructive audiotapes. All the people in the study received a flu vaccine.

The researchers recorded electrical activity in the left and front portions of the brains of the study participants. These areas of the brain become more active when a person experiences certain forms of positive emotion and reductions in anxiety.

Brain activity was measured at several points through the study as the subjects rested or wrote about positive and negative emotional experiences from their lives.

The researchers also tracked immune responses among the people in the study by measuring the level of antibodies produced by the flu vaccination.

The study found the people who did the meditation had more electrical activity in the targeted brain areas and also had higher levels of antibodies than those who didn’t receive the meditation training.

“Our findings indicate that a short training program in mindful meditation has demonstrable effects on brain and immune function,” said researcher Richard J. Davidson.

Dr. Keith & Laurie Nemec’s comments on Meditation Boosts the Immune System:
These studies were very interesting for a number of reasons.

First, it showed what meditation or stilling the mind can do for not only adults but also children—help heal their body and maintain the health of their bodies. Whether it be blood pressure, or balanced immune system or decreased pain and inflammation, when one stills their mind, they are going to become healthier.

The other point that is of note in the children’s study is the fact that teaching them to do a physical activity of stilling their mind and focusing on their breathing had a positive impact on their health. On the other hand, when they tried to just fill their mind with knowledge of healthy living by having them go to weekly health classes, their blood pressure actually went up. Why would this be? The answer is simple, if you fill the mind with just facts it does nothing (actually can harm) but when you physically show a person a practical physical step they can physically do everyday of their life, their health will improve.

Let this be a lesson to all of us.

“Let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth.”

If we want to change the world’s health, we must change our own health first. Once we know how to be in total health of body, mind and spirit, we can give it away to others by showing them the action steps they can take.

Remember, it is for more powerful to teach someone to sow and reap than to just give them a meal.

A Holistic Approach to Treating Bladder Cancer

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section” _builder_version=”3.0.47″][et_pb_row admin_label=”row” _builder_version=”3.0.48″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.0.47″ parallax=”off” parallax_method=”on”][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” _builder_version=”3.0.74″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”]

Bladder Cancer is one of the most commonly occurring forms of cancer in the United States today. Over 75% of those diagnosed will be men, making bladder cancer the fourth most common cancer to affect the male population. The cause of bladder cancer is not entirely understood, but what is known is that smoking, alcohol consumption and exposure to certain environmental toxins all contribute to the occurrence of bladder cancer in adults. Typical symptoms of bladder cancer include blood in the urine, pain when urinating, lower back pain, loss of appetite and unexpected weight loss. Bladder cancer can be difficult to diagnose, as early symptoms can often be attributed to other conditions such as kidney stones or bladder infections. The good news is, when diagnosed early, recovery rates for bladder cancer patients are very good indeed.

Conventional Treatments for Bladder Cancer

Current conventional treatments for bladder cancer involve a series of highly invasive medical procedures. Surgery to remove tumors, tissue and whole sections of the bladder itself remain standard treatment for cancer sufferers. This is typically followed with radiation, chemotherapy and drug dependent treatments which further assault the body in an effort to cure the patient’s cancer.

For those stricken with bladder cancer, the available conventional treatments can seem daunting, adding further physical and emotional stress to an already harrowing diagnosis. Alternative treatments, based on natural and holistic therapies, can help patients fight the cause of the cancer that is attacking their systems, minimizing the need for invasive, and toxic, conventional techniques.

Nutrition and Bladder Cancer

Good nutrition remains the foundation for all naturally centered healthcare. Through good nutrition we help our bodies stave off sickness, and give our systems the tools they need to recover from any illnesses or disorders that do occur. Patients stricken with bladder cancer can do much to help resolve the cause of the imbalances in their body that triggered the disease through the application of good nutritional practices.

The first step in designing a diet for fighting cancer is to remove those foods that can exacerbate the disorder. Animal products, including red meat, poultry, cured or smoked meats, butter, cheeses and whole milk should be eliminated from the patient’s diet. Commercial meat and dairy contain large amounts of environmental pollutants, including pesticides, hormones and animal steroids. These chemicals can not only have an adverse effect on a person’s general health, they can also serve to feed and support the cancer that patients are trying to fight. Highly processed foods and foods high in refined sugars and sodium should also be avoided. These foods place an added strain on the body’s immune system, as it must work to eliminate toxins from the food. This takes vital energy away from the fight against the cancer.

Once the majority of toxic foods have been eliminated from the diet, it is important to replace them with foods that help to boost the body’s own immune system. Raw fruits and vegetables, preferably organic, should make up a large part of the new dietary regime. Fruits and vegetables that contain high amounts of quercetin and other phytochemicals that are essential to the immune system. Foods such as cranberries, blueberries, kale, broccoli, red onions and garlic, provide cancer fighting nutrients and enzymes that help to impede the further growth of cancer cells. Foods rich in the antioxidant lycopene, such as tomatoes, also help to prevent cancerous cells from damaging otherwise healthy cells within the bladder.

Vitamin supplements can also be added to the patient’s dietary regime to further bolster their immune system. Vitamins C and E help the body to maintain its natural health at both the cellular and DNA levels. Regular daily doses can be added to a patient’s already improved diet to help strengthen the body’s own ability to heal. Vitamin D is also recommended, as a regular dosage diminishes the activity of enzymes necessary to the growth of cancerous cells.

Exercise and Natural Therapy

In addition to any nutritional changes, it is important to begin a regimen of exercise and physical therapy to help strengthen the body at its core. Regular exercise can help boost a patient’s immune system and increase muscle mass. An exercise routine also gives the patient a greater sense of control over their body, and can help with the management of stress and anxiety. The addition of natural therapies, such as oxygen therapy, lymphatic drainage therapy along with balancing the nervous system, hormonal system, digestive system, and elimination system can also help to reduce stress on the organs, glands and tissues. Prayer and meditation are important in the reduction of stress, and the increased sense of emotional wellbeing adds strength to the body’s fight against cancer.

A diagnosis of bladder cancer can leave patients feeling afraid, and helpless. But by learning to be still and hear the voice of Truth spoken to the heart, trusting God to reveal each step of the journey, along with the help of a holistic clinician, and the support of family, patients can make the necessary lifestyle adjustments that will help their bodies and minds address the underlying cause of bladder cancer. These natural therapies help to support the body’s own healing powers, and create an environment in which the cancer cannot thrive.

Are You Ready Yet?

What does it take to move you? This is the big question. In life you are constantly confronted with situations that need decisions of action steps. What does it take to get you to take the proper action steps?

Let us explain with a few examples.

Example 1: If you are trying to change your diet to a living/raw plant diet from the Standard American Diet (SAD) but keep making excuses and even when you try, you fall back within a couple of days. Now you get a diagnosis of cancer and you amazingly switch over to the living/raw plant diet with no hesitation and do it without fail. What was the different? Motivation

Example 2: If I told you to walk across a piece of wood one foot wide and 50 feet long that stretched between two buildings 100 stories tall, your response would be “no way”. Now, if I told you to walk across the building 100 feet tall and I would give you a million dollars, your response might still be “no way” or “maybe” or even “I will do it”. The last situation is that I told you to walk across the buildings on the one foot wide board because your wife and children are in the next building and it’s on fire, and the only way of escape is by this one foot wide board to the building you are in. Your answer would then be absolutely there is no question I am going across to get them and bring them back. What was the difference?

Motivation

What determines how motivated you are?

Motivation can be classified in three groups:

  1. Low or no motivation.
  2. Highly motivated–product of mental power.
  3. Highest motivation–done from the heart.

For those who have low or no motivation, they cannot go forward. They do not have the power to do it, to take the action step.

For those who are highly motivated but that motivation is from mind power, this also will fail for two reasons. First, because the mind is not unlimited and infinite, there is an end to how far it will and can go. Second, those who are motivated by mind power do it for a result (”I do this and then I get that”) mindset. If the only reason you are staying motivated is to get something in return, it will fail eventually.

For those who are in the highest motivation group, their motivation comes from the heart because God placed it in them. For them, there is no end, no limit to what lengths they will go to fulfill what He has placed in their heart. This is the purest form of motivation because it is all spirit, and is heart or spirit power which knows no limit or end. Secondly, those who are motivated by heart/spirit power do it not to get a result but because God has put it in their heart and they choose to obey what He speaks to their heart–never quitting, stopping or giving up no matter what.

To get something done in this life we have to be motivated to take the proper action steps and continue taking these steps no matter what the outcome appears to be. This is true power and this power will overcome any obstacle that is put into its path.

How do you access this type of motivation? The same way you access love–by following your heart, not your mind. When you still your mind, you begin to hear the voice of God speaking to the heart.

The mind is a raging ocean of thought, the heart is a pond of stillness that hears every drop that the Spirit of God speaks.

Begin training yourself today to step out of the comfort zone of your mind and follow your heart no matter what the cost is. When you do you will not be disappointed.

Constant Worry May Increase Alzheimer’s Risk

People who have a tendency to worry or feel very stressed out may be more likely to develop Alzheimer’s Disease later in life, new research reports.

The nature of the connection between a tendency to worry and the memory-robbing disease is still unclear, according to study author Dr. Robert S. Wilson of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago

However, he said that he suspects that chronic elevations of stress hormones may damage regions of the brain that regulate both behavior under stress and memory.

They found that people who appeared prone to feeling distressed were more than twice as likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease within 3 to 6 years.

– Neurology

Dr. Keith & Laurie Nemec comments on Constant Worry May Increase Alzheimer’s Risk:

This study shows how when we think too much it overburdens the brain and neurological system which leads to disease. Worry and stress has been shown to negatively affect the body and increasing the risk of physical conditions and diseases of the organs and glands. This is the first study to show that worry and mental stress leads to disease of the brain and nervous system.

To heal one must still the mind. This is why those who meditate regularly improve many health factors from immune system, blood pressure and blood sugar to name a few.

What is the opposite of stilling the mind? Thinking excessively on the negative. This is worry and mental stress.

Be still. Still your racing, raging, thinking mind and know that I am God.

A general observation that is seen in treating people is this–the more analytical, the more thinking a person is, the more difficult it is for them to heal. The people who are the simplest heal the quickest and best.

The more you have the mind of a child, the easier and faster it is to heal.

Happy Marriages Help You Heal Faster

Marital bliss can help wounds heal faster and reduce the health effects of job stress, according to research presented at the American Psychosomatic Society meeting in Vancouver, Canada.

A study of 42 couples found that people in happy marriages take less time than those in unhappy marriages to heal from all kinds of wounds, ranging from minor scrapes and athletic injuries to major surgery.

A second study of 201 married adults concluded that a happy home life can also reduce the negative health effects caused by job stress.

“You may not be able to get away from the job stress, but a good marriage soothes people, minimizing bad effects from the job,” said researcher Brian Baker, a University of Toronto psychiatrist.

– USA Today

Dr. Keith & Laurie comments on Happy Marriage and Increased Healing:

This study confirms the concept that God created the two to be one and when there is a strong covenant marriage relationship, the body will not only heal quicker but it will be more stress resistant and disease resistant.

As further studies have shown, married people are less likely than single, divorcees or widowed adults to be in poor health and are less likely to suffer from headaches or serious psychological distress.

One of the reasons happily married people are in better health and more stress resistant is because of covenant.

Strong covenant partners means that where one partner is weak, the other is strong. So they are always building each other up in the journey of life. If you always have someone who loves you, to encourage you and lifts you up when you are down; then vice versa, you are doing the same for them. The universal law of giving and receiving is operating which produces life.

Heart Attacks Can Be Caused By a “Broken Heart”

A phenomenon known as “broken heart syndrome,” can trigger severe, temporary heart muscle weakness that mimics a classic heart attack, Johns Hopkins scientists claim in a new report.

Their study describes 20 patients, almost all of them women, who were hospitalized with all the symptoms of heart attacks, including chest pain, shortness of breath, fluid in the lungs and drastically reduced ability of the heart to pump blood.

But careful study found the problems were just temporary, caused by a massive release of stress hormones called catecholamines that can “stun” the heart. They include adrenaline, and flood the body following emotional shocks ranging from news of a loved one’s death, to an armed robbery, to an auto accident, the report said. Rather than requiring the drastic treatment necessary for a heart attack, the patients needed only supportive therapy for a few days to allow the heart to recover, the researchers said.

“This kind of thing has been described by others,” said study author Dr. Hunter C. Champion, an assistant professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. But, he added, it’s still important to remind physicians that the cardiac problem might be due to stress cardiomyopathy, rather than a heart attack.

The Hopkins physicians are doing studies to determine how stress hormones can stun the heart, and whether there might be a genetic vulnerability to the condition, Champion said.
-New England Journal of Medicine.

Dr. Keith & Laurie Nemec comments on Heart Attacks Can Be Caused By a “Broken Heart”:
The importance of this study is to see how your mind affects your body. With the stress as the mind perceives it, adrenaline and other highly oxidative molecules are secreted which are good in survival scenarios where your life is threatened but if secreted because of mental/emotional stress they can promote disease formation.

Molecules like adrenaline if secreted in large amounts day in and day out lead to decreased blood flow to the internal organs including the intestinal tract where all the nutrients are absorbed. If you decrease blood to the intestinal tract you produce an inflammatory condition called Leaky Gut Syndrome which is the greatest source of maldigestion, malabsorption and toxicity in the body. With Leaky Gut the immune system is overloaded and it is the precursor to most diseases. This all can come from how you perceive the events in life. Some see the day as partly sunny, others see it as cloudy. The way you perceive the events in your life can dramatically affect your health.

Diet, Exercise Make Dramatic Risk Reduction for Disease in 6 Weeks

Six weeks of simple changes in diet and exercise start to make dramatic reductions in risk for diseases like diabetes, cancer or heart disease, researchers report.
Researcher Steven Aldana, a Brigham Young University professor of exercise science, and his team studied 337 volunteers — all residents of Illinois and ranging from 43 to 81 years of age — participated in a 40-hour educational course over four weeks.
People experienced significant reductions in body fat, cholesterol levels and blood pressure when they spent just 30 minutes a day on cardiovascular exercise and adopted a diet emphasizing unrefined foods like grains, legumes and fresh fruits and vegetables, Aldana reported.
“This is not a diet, not a trend, not a fad that will go away,” he said. “It’s adopting a nutritious way of eating and exercise that causes very important positive changes in your body’s health in a short period of time.”
-Journal of the American Dietetic Association.
Dr. Keith and Laurie Nemec Comments: Diet and Exercise:
What this study shows is the plain and simple truth if we follow the basics of health, we will become healthy. In just 6 weeks of eating a plant based diet and getting 30 minutes of daily cardiovascular exercise the people experienced significant reductions of body fat, cholesterol and blood pressure. This is in just six weeks of doing only part of two of the 7 Basic Steps to Total Health. Can you imagine what their health would be transformed into if people did the complete 7 Basic Steps to Total Health for not six weeks but for the rest of their life!  Also do not forget that any alternative cancer treatment should address diet and exercise.
The take home message is this: Do not put off until tomorrow what can transform your health and life today! Start it TODAY!
I like what the lead researcher says in the article. “This is not a diet, not a trend, not a fad that will go away”. This is the way God intended us to live to be in total health of body, mind and spirit.
In these days of so many fad diets, isn’t it time you got back to basics—the 7 Basic Steps to Total Health?

Vegetarian Diet Lowers Blood Pressure

Vegetarians tend to have lower blood pressure than the general population, but it hasn’t been clear whether their diet or their lifestyle guards them against hypertension.
A review of previously published studies shows that diet provides the protection. “It’s the diet itself, and it is clearly the diet of choice for people who want to get their blood pressure under control,” said Dr. Neal D. Barnard, president and founder of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and co-author of the report. Barnard, an M.D. and a nutritionist, concluded that a person who suffers from hypertension and has yet to switch to a vegetarian diet is “really trying to fight their condition with one arm tied behind their back.”
About 65 million American adults have high blood pressure, according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Hypertension is often called the “silent killer” because it usually has no symptoms but leads to increased risk for heart disease, congestive heart failure, stroke and kidney failure. Barnard and committee nutritionist Susan Berkow analyzed 80 scientific studies, including observational studies of individuals on vegetarian diets compared with non-vegetarians and randomized, controlled trials in which outcomes of people who switch to a plant-based diet were compared with control subjects.
Some of the best observational data, according to the report, come from studies involving Seventh-Day Adventists, who advocate an alcohol-free, tobacco-free, vegetarian lifestyle.  One study involving California Adventists found that vegetarians have about half the prevalence of hypertension compared to non-vegetarian Adventists. When hypertensives were defined as those taking medication intended to reduce their blood pressure, a nearly threefold difference in the prevalence of hypertension was seen between the groups.
Overall, the randomized controlled trials included in the review found that blood pressure is lowered when animal products were replaced with vegetable products in both people with normal blood pressure and those who are hypertensive. To understand the blood-pressure-lowering effects of a plant-based diet, the authors examined changes in body weight and intake of specific food groups and nutrients.
Studies show that vegetarians tend to be slimmer, on average, which may help explain their lower incidence of hypertension. A vegetarian diet also is significantly lower in saturated fat, reducing the viscosity, or thickness, of the blood. Blood becomes “less like oil, more like water,” Barnard explained. And because vegetarian diets are generally high in vegetables, people who follow this diet consume more potassium than those who eat a diet of meat and vegetables. The analysis cites two reviews involving a total of 52 randomized clinical trials showing potassium supplementation significantly lowered blood pressure in people with normal and elevated blood pressure.
Barnard hopes the review will prompt more doctors to recommend a vegetarian diet. Many are reluctant to do because they fear that patients won’t stick with it, but there’s no reason to believe patients would be less likely to go vegetarian than to comply with other diets, he said.
“They may not hit the mark 100 percent, but they’d do much better if a doctor recommended it,” he said.
-Nutrition Reviews.
Dr. Keith and Laurie Nemec comments on Vegetarian Diet Lowers Blood Pressure:
There is no question about what diet is best—there never has been. As this study shows, when a plant based diet is adopted, blood pressure decreases. There are many reasons for this but let us look at three of them.
1.    Weight loss
2.    Thinner blood
3.    Potassium to sodium ratio increases
Weight Loss: It has been seen in every study that when a plant based diet high in vegetables is consumed, people lose weight. Since weight is a major stress factor in increasing the risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer, it just is common sense to eat a plant based diet to reduce your weight and your risk of all disease.
Thinner Blood: Blood must move at a high speed to keep you healthy. The faster the blood moves, the more oxygen and nutrients you get into the cells and the more waste products and toxins you get out of the cells. The average American, because of their high animal based diet, have blood “sludge”. This means their blood is too thick causing it to move slower through the blood vessels and also causing a decrease in oxygen and nutrients into the cells and waste products and toxins out of the cells. Let us use this analogy. If your blood speed was a highway, the speed for total health would be 700 miles per hour whereas the average American’s speed would be around 60 miles per hour. How do you increase the speed of the blood? Thin it out with an exclusive living/raw plant based diet. How do you clog it up? Thicken it with a diet of meat, chicken, fish, eggs, milk, butter and cheese. The choice is yours on how fast you want to drive on the highway to Total Health.
Potassium to Sodium Ratio:   The ideal ratio of potassium to sodium in a person with the highest level of health is 5:1. The average animal product consuming American has the reverse ratio of 5:1 sodium to potassium. So, how do you get your ratio to the ideal 5:1 potassium to sodium ratio? Eat a vegetable based diet. Vegetables have a 5:1 potassium ratio so when you consume them in high quantities in the raw, uncooked state they bring balance, healing and health to your body.

Healing/Preventing Cancer by Changing the Physical and Mental/Emotional Environment

Date:            9/13/2012          Time:        7:00 p.m.                    Free

Dr. Nemec is the director of Total Health Institute, an alternative and integrative healthcare medical facility that integrates the best of both worlds; natural healthcare physicians and alternatively minded medical doctors.  Dr. Nemec is an author, lecturer and researcher in the field of body, mind and spirit health and healing.  Dr. Nemec has helped thousands of patients restore their health from around the world in the last 28 years at Total Health Institute in Wheaton, Illinois with inpatient programs and outpatient treatment/teaching programs.  Dr. Nemec’s focus is to treat the underlying cause of ill health and change the internal biochemical environment instead of treating the effects, which are the symptoms, conditions and diseases. He focuses on balancing the big four systems of the body in order of priority:

  1. Nervous system
  2. Hormonal system
  3. Digestive system
  4. Elimination system-Detoxification system.

When these four systems are balanced and the body’s biochemistry and mental/emotional states are in balance then one can heal from any symptom, condition or disease.
